Basically the “original” BENTSCHNEIDERs come from the region of Mecklenburg-Pommerania. In the meantime I have also found some in Schleswig-Holstein. A connection has not been made yet.

Following is a list of places in which I found records of BENTSCHNEIDER families. The information stems from different sources such as the Mecklenburg census records in 1819, 1867 and 1900, the BENTSCHNEIDER-family files as well as the emigrant permission files at the Archive in Schwerin, the Schubert indexes, the Hamburg Passenger Departure Lists, the internet or from descendants who provided details.

Obviously this is still a work in progress.
